Basab,
Great review!
I am not a regular with commercial Hindi movies and I watched KANK when my local cable guy put it up after months of its release!
I liked Johar's experimentation with the theme and characterisation but as you said he seemed to play it safe with a location abroad. Also, the straightening up of things in the end was too much like a typical Hindi movie ending.
We can give him all the brownies thinking he did make a fresh start but I just feel a lot more could have been done with all the expertise in every department!

Basab, you are the first person to rate KANK as being good. We've had more than a share of movies in the recent past that involve intimate scenes- for instance murder and zeher.

This is a great review, better than some cheesy stuff written usually by biased insiders or industry/ culture stereotypes! I liked the movie and its portrayal of relationships in a non-judgemental manner, something that Indian movies need to grow up to; too often we have movies taking moral high grounds (Swades - for example) about issues which the Directors have squat idea about!

This review is definitely not in sync with the general views about the movie. Rediff conducted a contest and there were the top 10 reviews. Read those; here is the link to one of them.. the others are also named in the same review.

I think this is one of the very few good reviews written for KANK. If u have not seen a commercial Bollywood movie revolving around an extra-marital affair Oh man! U dont know about Muredr then?
